Tourism is a fast-growing trade globally and is recognised by the South African authorities for the function it might play in financial development and poverty discount. Local weather change poses a menace to the tourism sector, as recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Group (UNWTO). In 2020, the Division of Tourism (NDT), in partnership with the Division of Surroundings, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) and GIZ, commissioned a local weather change threat and vulnerability evaluation of the tourism sector.
