Crown attorneys say Ontario courts not ready for COVID-19

TORONTO — The union representing Crown attorneys in Ontario needs to delay returning to courtroom over fears of COVID-19.

The Ontario Crown Attorneys Affiliation is looking for an injunction to delay the province’s plans to reopen 44 courthouses beginning subsequent week.

The affiliation alleges the province’s legal professional normal has not taken each precaution to guard staff in courthouses through the pandemic.

The union says the province has not made it necessary to put on masks in courthouses together with different protecting measures.

Because of this, it is looking for an injunction to delay the return so the problem could be handled by an arbitrator.

The legal professional normal’s workplace says it is going to reply later with remark.
