Fernando, 89, was awarded an honorary physician of science diploma by Massey College at its commencement ceremony on Friday in Palmerston North in recognition of his management in moral enterprise within the meals and beverage business.

He has been recognised for his contribution to the tea business and meals science globally, and he has been praised for the corporate’s honest commerce practices.

“Once I introduced Dilmah to New Zealand, Kiwis made my tea a cup of kindness,” Fernando mentioned. “The cup of kindness grew the philosophy which I prolonged to my enterprise, making my enterprise a human service.
