A 26-year-old man labored with three juveniles to batter and rob a CTA passenger who fell asleep on the Orange Line, prosecutors stated throughout a bond listening to Saturday.

The sufferer was asleep on the practice close to Quincy when Michael Sturdivant and the unnamed juvies approached him round 12:30 a.m. on September 22, in keeping with prosecutors and CPD information.

After asking the sufferer for his cash, one of many juveniles punched the sufferer within the face, and the group went via his pockets to take his telephone and pockets, prosecutors stated.

CTA cameras captured the complete incident, and Sturdivant’s face is clearly seen within the footage, in keeping with the state’s allegations. Police recognized Sturdivant and arrested him this week.

After being taken into custody, Sturdivant allegedly made an announcement on video by which he admitted to holding the sufferer’s pockets, saying, “I did what I did, and I received caught.”

Prosecutors charged him with one depend of felony theft. Choose Charles Seashore set bail at $5,000. Sturdivant should put up a 10% deposit bond of $500 to get out of jail. He has one prior felony conviction, prosecutors stated, for illegal use of a weapon.
