About 10:17am on Sunday, January 24, 2021, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio name for an individual with a gun within the space of Bowdoin Avenue and Geneva Avenue, Dorchester. The caller offered an outline of the suspect, said that he was seen strolling in direction of Fields Nook, and he appeared as if he could also be intoxicated.
A responding Sergeant noticed a male, matching the suspect description, strolling on Westville Avenue in direction of Draper Avenue. The male was stumbling as he walked whereas speaking to himself, and he gave the impression to be drunk or another substance. The Sergeant exited his cruiser and approached the male in entrance of eight Draper Avenue. The Sergeant carried out a pat frisk, which revealed a black firearm within the waistband of the suspect. The firearm, a SCCY, CPX-1 9mm was loaded, with (1) spherical within the chamber and (9) rounds within the journal.
The suspect, Steven Gomes, 37, of Dorchester, was positioned underneath arrest and charged with Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Firearm with a Defaced Serial Quantity. He’s anticipated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Courtroom.
