Police officer injured in head-on crash with stolen automotive on Gold Coast

A police officer has been taken to hospital with head accidents after a collision between his unmarked police automotive and a stolen ute, allegedly pushed by a teenage woman, on the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Police stated officers noticed the Holden ute, allegedly stolen from Tugun in a single day between November 30 and December 1, on the Gold Coast Freeway in Surfers Paradise about 10am.

They tracked the car via the Gold Coast till about 10.30am when the ute became the Stacer Avenue, which is a cul-de-sac, in Coomera.

Police stated the ute u-turned and tried to get out of the cul-de-sac, however was blocked in by the pursuing police automotive, and the scenario resulted in a head-on crash.

The injured officer, who was within the passenger seat of the police automotive, sustained head accidents and was taken to the Gold Coast College Hospital in a steady situation.

The alleged driver of the stolen ute, a 17-year-old woman, was arrested on the scene. No prices have been laid but. She was the only occupant of the car.

The officer driving the police automotive was unhurt.
