Smoke from raging west coast wildfires reaches New York

The solar is out, there is not a cloud to be seen, and but the sky over New York and the north-east is a milky grey as a result of jet-stream winds are driving smoke from fires within the west throughout the environment.

The jet stream, a ribbon of air 6.5 kilometers to 13 kilometres above land, can transfer as quick as 440km/h. Folks from Washington to Boston aren’t dealing with the poor air high quality threatening residents within the west as a result of the smoke stays at excessive altitudes.

The smoke from fires within the west has reached the east coast, Frank Pereira, a forecaster on the US Climate Prediction Centre in School Park, Maryland, mentioned.

“Right here on the east coast, it’s being carried by higher stage winds. It’s all up within the jet stream,” he mentioned.
