Officer Gallagher had served the division for 7 years on the time of his demise and was survived by his spouse and three youngsters. 

Officer Gallagher is buried on the New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. His title is positioned on the Nationwide Legislation Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., Panel 25, West Line 10, together with the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Police Memorial on the State Home in Downtown Boston.
